WCIRB CompEssentials® – New Pricing Options and Increased Continuing Education Units

August 30, 2017

CompEssentials® is the WCIRB's online educational training program offering access to a series of on-demand, self-paced courses that are comprehensive, convenient and provide an overview of the fundamentals of workers’ compensation insurance. These courses are an essential foundation for both new and experienced insurance professionals to understand California regulations.

Over 170 students have successfully completed the first WCIRB CompEssentials course, Classification Basics. This course explains how to administer classification rules in the California Workers’ Compensation Uniform Statistical Reporting Plan–1995, and includes 9 individual modules covering different topics within the Standard Classification System.

We are pleased to announce that the California Department of Insurance has increased the number of continuing education units (CEU) applicable to Classifications Basics. California licensed agents and brokers who successfully complete the course are now eligible to receive 5 CEU toward their Property and Casualty license.
