Pending X-Mod Statuses on WCIRB Connect®

January 27, 2022

If the Worker’s Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) receives all required information, experience modifications (X-Mods) may be published as early as four months prior to the policy effective date; however, there are some issues that delay the publication of X-Mods.

To find the status of an X-Mod:

  1. Log in to WCIRB Connect®. (If you do not have a login for WCIRB Connect, this is a great time to get one! Visit the WCIRB Connect page on to enroll.)
  2. Either enter a Bureau Number at the top of the screen, or click the highlighted “Find X-Mods, Assigned Class Codes, Rate Sheets, Inspection Reports” button in the top menu.
  3. On the Search Criteria screen, enter the FEIN, Bureau Number or policyholder name.
  4. Click on the Bureau Number for your policyholder (on the left-hand side of the screen).
  5. On the Policyholder Details screen, the X-Mod Status column shows the status reason for each Rating Effective Date.

Rates Not Approved The rates for the Rating Effective Date year have not been approved by the California Insurance Commissioner.

Requires Insurer Response The WCIRB has sent correspondence to an insurer regarding an issue that could impact the X-Mod.
Pending Receipt of Coverage The WCIRB does not have a record of coverage for the X-Mod effective period.
Unable to Rate The WCIRB has been unable to obtain the data required to generate an X-Mod.

If you need further information or clarification on a delayed X-Mod, please reach out to the Contact Center at 888.CA.WCIRB (888.229.2472) or at [email protected].
