September 1, 2022 Pure Premium Rate Filing Decision

The Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) September 1, 2022 Pure Premium Rate Filing (Filing) was submitted to the California Department of Insurance (CDI) on April 29, 2022.

The WCIRB proposed advisory pure premium rates in its Filing that averaged $1.56 per $100 of payroll, which reflected a 7.6 percent increase from the average of the September 1, 2021 approved advisory pure premium rates.

The CDI held a public hearing regarding the Filing on June 14, 2022. The CDI’s official hearing record closed on June 15, 2022.

The Insurance Commissioner issued a Decision dated July 15, 2022 that indicated the approved advisory pure premium rate of $1.45 should remain unchanged. On July 29, 2022, the Commissioner confirmed that the advisory pure premium rates for individual classifications should be adjusted based on the classification relativities adopted in the Commissioner’s June 28, 2022 Order on the September 1, 2022 Regulatory Filing.
