Impact of Economic Downturn on CA Workers’ Comp

With the dramatic drop in employment in California, the frequency of claim filings will likely be affected. The WCIRB discusses how prior recessions have affected claim frequency in California, provides forecasts of future claim frequency given alternative assumptions as to unemployment rates and summarizes some of the potential impact of post-termination and COVID-19 claims on claim frequency.
