X-Mods and More® Web Service

Format: XML

This API web service provides member insurers with real-time, automated retrieval of experience modifications (X-Mods), assigned classification codes, previously reported policyholder names and addresses, FEINs and other information to assist in underwriting workers’ compensation policies in California.

Experience Modification Subscription

Format: Proprietary Text File Format
Method of transmission: SFTP pull
Pricing: $2,500 per year for Weekly File; $12,500 per year for Daily File

This data product contains experience modifications with the corresponding WCIRB assigned classification(s), policyholder name, address and other policy information. It also includes a Does Not Qualify (DNQ) indicator for those policyholders that do not meet the eligibility threshold for experience rating. This product is sent via Managed File Transfer (secured) and is available on either a daily or weekly basis. 

A master file of then current experience modification information is included in this product at initial set-up. Subscribers may purchase a replacement master file for $500 at any time. 

Incremental weekly or daily updates contain experience modifications issued during the file period.

Experience Rating Worksheets with XML Companion File

Format: PDF documents with Proprietary XML Format in a ZIP file

Member insurers may receive experience rating worksheets for their policyholders in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format in a single daily ZIP file. This electronic distribution includes an XML companion file that member insurers may use to automatically manage their experience rating worksheets.

Member insurers may receive Does Not Qualify (DNQ) letters for their policyholders in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format in a single daily ZIP file.

Experience Rating Worksheet Data (WCRATING)

Member insurers may obtain experience rating worksheet data for their policyholders in the WCRATING format for issued and withdrawn rate sheets via Managed File Transfer (secured) and/or through WCIRB Connect.

Inspection Reports and XML Companion File

Member insurers may obtain inspection reports in a zipped Adobe Acrobat PDF format via Managed File Transfer (secured) and/or through WCIRB Connect. The ZIP file includes an XML companion file designed to be used for mapping the Adobe Acrobat PDF inspection reports to the policies or records in the insurer's system. 

Policy Correspondence and XML Companion File

This API web service provides authorized third party entities (TPEs) with real-time, automated retrieval of experience modifications (X-Mods), assigned classification codes, previously reported policyholder names and addresses, FEINs and other information to assist in underwriting workers’ compensation policies in California on behalf of the insurers authorizing access. Access to the full X-Mod effective date is based on the TPE permission level granted in the TPE contract.

Advisory Organization subscriptions do not include insurer-specific data (e.g., policy numbers and effective dates).

Advisory Organization subscribers must be registered advisory organizations in good standing per Insurance Code Sections 11750.1(c) and 11753.

X-Mods and More® Web Service

This API web service provides licensed agencies and brokerages with real-time, automated retrieval of experience modifications (X-Mods), assigned classification codes, previously reported policyholder names and addresses, FEINs and other information to assist in underwriting workers’ compensation policies in California. Agents/Brokers receive the X-Mod effective year only and not the full X-Mod effective date.
